SEA 2019

By end of the upcoming decade, India will be housing the major population of youngsters across the globe, and there is no second thought about the potential of the youth in focus. The only thing missing at the moment within our development ecosystem, is a platform where they can be guided towards a brighter future. It is the need of the hour to develop an ecosystem that can allow a nurturing ground for the upcoming young generation of the country. Looking at the seriousness of the issue, Jagriti and Coca-Cola India, came together and created Sustainable Enterprise Award, under the guidance of Shashank Mani Tripathi, Chairman, Jagriti and Ishteyaque Amjad, VP - Public Affairs and Communication, Coca-Cola India. The project was led by Dr. Suyogkumar Bhavare, COO, Jagriti Yatra and his team, with support from Sameer Pathak, GM, Coca-Cola India and the team at Coca-Cola India.

Synopsis

In an endeavour to have the maximum participation for SEA, Jagriti team went around 25 districts of India, in all the four directions, with an unwavering support from the Coca-Cola India team. With each location our horizon of understanding of the Indian youth expanded and the kind of impact that entrepreneurs in these areas are creating, left us in awe. Though not highlighted or covered by media a lot, aspirants from these areas have been working tirelessly and achieving milestones, that a lot of us couldn’t even imagine. A villager in the area of Kausani, a region spread over just 5 sq. kms, has been utilising the solar energy to an extent where he has enabled himself to supply 6 kW of electricity back to the government through Net Metering, or a group of ladies from the rural and conservative section of society come forward to recycle the waste and earn livelihood, so that their children can study, are just few examples to be quoted. The inspiring and awakening journey of SEA came to an end with receiving over 300 applications, of which 42 teams were shortlisted and called for the semi finals and final event on 10 November 2019, at the Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. With every team presenting their idea, the bar was being set higher every time, making it difficult for the jury to shortlist top 6 teams who competed for the seed money for their ventures. Total Seed money to be distributed to top 3 teams amounted to INR 3.5 lakhs.
